For the Start of a New School Year during the War

One August day in 1950, when the Fatherland Liberation War was raging on, the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung asked an official about how preparations were being made for the start of the upcoming school year.
The Cabinet had already taken necessary steps for ensuring that all the schools in the country would open on September 1. However, many schools were destroyed by the US imperialists’ indiscriminate bombings and bombardments.
Being briefed on the situation, Kim Il Sung said that the education of the rising generation should continue non-stop despite the difficult wartime conditions, stressing that preparations should be stepped up for opening schools as usual.
He continued that even though many school buildings were blown up by the enemy’s bombings and there was a shortage of school fixtures and other supplies, the education for the future of the nation must never be delayed. He then gave detailed instructions on how to prepare for the new school year, teaching at school, etc.
Listening to these instructions, the official realized how ennobling Kim Il Sung’s love was for the rising generation.
Thanks to his benevolent measures for the education of children, all the schools in the country began on September 1, despite the rigours of the war that was decisive of the destiny of the country and the nation.
